Ashley and Darius had a fun and flirty engagement session at Gershwin’s Restaurant in Downtown Norfolk with wonderfully soft lighting. The luxe look of setting was enhanced by their bold outfits; Ashley’s classic red gown and Darius’ handsome black suit added a glamorous feel to the shoot. Everything about this session was perfectly classic, from the sophisticated setting to the sweet smiles from the happy couple. Not only was Molly Lichten Photography able to capture some really beautiful, intimate moments between them, but they also exuded just the right amount of class and sass to bring their theme to life!
Describe your overall style as a couple.
We like to consider ourselves as young, trendy, and stylish. But we’re also about staying comfortable, especially when chasing around our little toddler.
What was your vision for your engagement session?
Darius’s last name is James, so it seemed only fitting to have a James Bond-themed wedding and our wedding date is the icing on the cake — 7.7.17! We wanted to give a taste of our theme in our engagement session. Our vision was low lighting, classic colors (black, white, and red), with a little sass and sex appeal — something like the movies!
What made you choose Gershwin’s Restaurant in Downtown Norfolk as your engagement session location?
Gershwin’s had the look and feel of our theme. We wanted a place that was classy but had that old, vintage look to it. The interior decor and the piano stairs won our hearts the first time we stepped into the restaurant. We knew this was the place to make our engagement session vision come to life.
Did you bring any props along for your session? If so, what did you bring and why?
We brought a wood cut-out sign of our wedding date (7.7.17) that we ordered from Etsy. We wanted a prop to take a picture with for our Save-the-Dates and that could also be used to decorate our wedding.
What was your favorite part of the engagement session?
Our favorite part was getting into character. We are a couple that is usually full of laughter and fun, but for the shoot we had to be a bit more serious to play the part for the theme. We imagined ourselves on a James Bond movie set — Mr. sees Mrs. and they fall deeply in love. In our minds, we won an Oscar.
