Emily and Raphael’s love story culminated in an elegant Norfolk wedding for the books! Emily looked absolutely stunning in her portraits, and Raphael was as handsome as ever. Their ceremony at Christ and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, officiated by Raphael’s father, was full of elegance, grace, and surrounded by beautiful stained glass. Emily and Raphael took pictures on the dock before the reception at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. This couple looks at each other with such love and admiration, it’s impossible not to see how wonderful they are together!
An ice sculpture, crystal details, and more of the beautiful pale pink florals stood out against the beautiful indoor setup, which included a wedding memory quilt for guests to decorate and old wedding photos from each of their families. Their reception including lively dancing and the couple shoving cake into each others’ faces, making this truly a party to remember! Emily and Raphael exited their perfect day by walking through a walkway of their friends and family waving ribbons and welcoming them to their new life together!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
From the Bride: We wanted it to be beautiful, to be meaningful and to be remembered forever. These days it seems everything is boho and garden themed and I wanted it fancy, black tie, cathedral and yacht club. Both my husband and I love older architecture- the beauty and character you find in churches like Christ and St. Luke’s is breathtaking. We lived in Ghent right by the church and would walk by it all the time and we had our hearts set on it! The ceremony for us was the most important part. We have been together for 6 years and within those years, there were moments we chose to love each- even when we weren’t feeling it! So we wanted the marriage commitment to have weight and meaning, and the church and ceremony accomplished just that with a perfect amount of tradition. We wanted the reception to compliment the wedding so the Norfolk Yacht club was perfect! The water, Frank Sinatra singer, and menu were all beyond perfect! So all the details and design were inspired by our relationship and a sort of New York styled wedding in Norfolk, VA.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Probably getting ready with my 10 bridesmaids and family, getting to the church taking pictures, the ceremony, the music, our Frank Sinatra singer Frank Sings Frank, the food, the speeches. . . all of it!
Which local vendors made your day EXTRA special?
All of them were wonderful!
What is your best piece of advice for other local brides?
Hire a wedding day coordinator! Also, make sure there are moments built in to your wedding where you and your sweetheart can truly enjoy it and just soak it all in.
