This golden winter wedding was full of deep, rich colors and a beautiful love story! Jessica and Luke met in college at Christopher Newport University through mutual friends, and have been inseparable ever since! With a heart for a winter wedding, these two incorporated boots and touches of plaid for a personalized, comfortable feel at their wedding. Check out the Q&A with the bride below to learn more about her favorite parts of her wedding, and advice for other local brides!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
The bridesmaid dresses were the start of all decoration, I absolutely fell in love with the color when looking at dresses for a friend who got married back in October. I’m also a sucker for brass/gold! Everything sort of fell into place after deciding on those two colors.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
The snow of course! We were honestly just happy to see how everything turned out. My family was amazing and put together all of the flowers, and we had a lot of people help to make everything great. From my step mom picking up fuzzy socks for us cold girls to my cousin sitting on the floor shredding flowers for the flower girl basket, we could not have asked for a more beautiful day.
Which local vendors made your day EXTRA special?
Our photographers- everything was so beautiful and they did an amazing job of capturing the fun moments. They also stood outside in the freezing cold to capture our day but also kept up with our “warm up breaks” to run inside for some heat.
What is your best piece of advice for other local brides?
Everyone will tell you how quickly the day will pass by and you will get annoyed at this (at least I was). TRUST ME, it is amazing how quickly the day really does pass. Take a moment to realize it’s your big day and enjoy every moment. You’re constantly going and going all day so it’s hard to take a moment to sit back and take in your day, but just do it!
